Out of an abundance of caution and in consultation with public safety officials, Bethel Park School District will continue to have Remote Learning Days for the rest of the week. Bitter cold temperatures and snow-piled and still dicey roadways continue to create unsafe conditions for students and school bus drivers, and safety remains the district’s top priority.

As always, during an RLD, students and staff work from home following the 2-Hour Delay schedule, and no transportation services will be provided to students attending parochial, specialty, or vocational schools.

Snow removal at all Bethel Park Schools, including at the BPHS campus, is expected to be completed late this afternoon. All scheduled after-school activities planned for Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2026 -- including athletic contests, the school board meeting, etc. - will proceed as planned.

Due to forecasted freezing temperatures, Bethel Park School District will operate on a Remote Learning Day on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2026. The Bethel Park High School campus, including Black Hawk Drive, will close to traffic at 7 a.m. tomorrow for snow removal. Unauthorized vehicles will not be permitted, and motorists should use alternate routes until work is completed. The status of Tuesday’s after-school activities will be announced tomorrow afternoon.

Bethel Park School District will have a 2-hour delay on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026.

Independence Middle School honored its January Students of the Month for academic achievement, leadership, and positive contributions to the school and community.

Independence Middle School will stage its spring musical, Footloose: Youth Edition, March 5–7, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. in the IMS auditorium, with tickets available for $10 through the district website. The one-hour adaptation follows teenager Ren as he challenges a small town’s ban on dancing, featuring songs from the original Footloose soundtrack and highlighting themes of understanding, connection, and empathy.

The Bethel Park Board of School Directors reorganized in early December, electing Buffie Faes as president and Christina Headley as vice president, welcoming new member Colleen Sokira, and swearing in all members before the Honorable Ron Arnoni. The board also announced a return to meeting on the third and fourth Tuesdays of most months, reappointed its solicitor, and released a preliminary 2026 meeting schedule.

All scheduled afternoon and evening activities in the Bethel Park School District will proceed as planned, despite today’s snow day that closed schools to in-person and remote instruction.
