The Municipality of Bethel Park is accepting letters of interest and resumes for its Junior Council Program for the 2026-2027 school year, with a deadline of Wednesday, June 17.
Adopted by Bethel Park Council in February 2026, the program is designed to encourage high school juniors and seniors to participate in local government and offer their perspectives.
The council will consist of three to five students per school year.
To be eligible, applicants must be Bethel Park residents and incoming high school juniors or seniors. Selected members will take a pledge of office and serve a term running largely from September or October through June.
Junior Council members will attend council meetings and report at the fourth Monday committee meetings. They will also complete a community project focused on youth engagement in government, present a final report to the council, write an article for the Spring Chronicles, and participate in a Bethel Park Minute segment with BPTV.
Members will not be permitted to vote, attend executive sessions, or violate council meeting rules.
Interested students should submit a letter of interest and/or resume — addressed to Borough Council — by mail to Municipality of Bethel Park, Junior Council Program, 5100 Library Avenue, Bethel Park, PA 15102, or by email in PDF format to [email protected].
For questions, contact Junior Council Program Advisor and Councilwoman Alison Piccolino at 412-398-1256 or [email protected].
